As a voracious consumer of information and research about conservation and the environment, I am at somewhat of a loss to explain exactly how the Earth Day Texas festival has escaped my notice until now.
Be that as it may, I am pleased to now be able to pass this information on to my readers (both of you).
This year's festival will be at Fair Park from Friday, April 22nd through Sunday, April 24th, and best of all, admission is free.
Earth Day Texas is a "three-day free event is held in April to celebrate progress, hope, and innovation and is the largest event in the world of its kind. Earth Day Texas brings together environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, government agencies, speakers, interactive programming, and subject matter experts. Attendees will also enjoy numerous outdoor experiences, including live music, sustainable beer and food pavilions, electric bike test tracks, and family activities."
Educational opportunities include display booths, guest speakers on a variety of topics including conservation and honeybees, interactive activities such as the LUNG FORCE walk, and much more. Check them out here.

If you can't make this festival, don't forget about the Oak Cliff Earth Day event held every year (since 2007) at Lake Cliff Park at the corner of Zang and Colorado. This year's event will be Sunday, April 10th, from Noon to 5 pm.
I have attended OCED twice in the past. You can learn a lot about local preservation and gardening clubs, buy eco-friendly products and local honey, watch a number of demonstrations, sample food, and much more.
